It is incredibly important to monitor how much information you are broadcasting on social networks like Facebook, and with whom you are sharing. PennPrivacy has put together a great step-by-step list of the Top Ten Facebook Privacy Settings and it would be wise for all members of the Penn Community to take note. They have also posted a video tutorial going through each of these steps.
Don’t forget that controlling your Facebook’s privacy settings may work differently on your mobile phone than on the full Facebook site. Specifically:
1) You cannot customize your Friend Lists on mobile Facebook. You can use the five default Friend groups (Public, Friends and Networks, Friends of Friends, Friends Only, and Only Me). You cannot create Friend Lists (ie “cohort,” “study group,” “high school,” etc) to include or exclude in your sharing settings, as you can on the full site;
and,
2) Mobile Facebook does not allow you to set privacy controls regarding third-party applications or connecting to outside websites.
You can read more about privacy settings on mobile phones in the Facebook Help Center.
